ABOUT

Sarah Marie trained and worked within the tradition of Jan Engels-Smith at the LightSong School of 21st Century Shamanism and Energy Medicine in Portland, Oregon for over a decade. This lineage draws from diverse global influences—including Celtic, South African, Native American, Norse, and Siberian traditions. Each influence is a living contribution to a dynamic curriculum designed to evolve with each generation of healers.

Through her dedicated work in this tradition, Sarah Marie has learned how to navigate the spiritual and energetic realms to receive and retrieve healing on behalf of others.

Her training also includes Reiki studies with Karen Hefner through Igniting Spirit. Sarah Marie is a certified Karuna Holy Fire Reiki practitioner and teacher. She has studied mediumship with Betsy Bergstrom and Stacie Codino. In addition to her energy healing work, Sarah Marie holds a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from SUNY at Buffalo and is a licensed massage therapist through East West College of the Healing Arts.

As a shamanic practitioner and energy healer, Sarah Marie approaches healing through the understanding that we are not separate from life—we are expressions of it. She honors the wholeness of the soul, recognizing that true healing embraces the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of our being.

Her work is rooted in the belief that every person has inherent worth simply because they exist. We cannot truly exist outside of belonging, though we can become disconnected from the reality of our place within the greater web of life. Healing, therefore, is not about becoming someone new. It is about remembering who we are and returning to right relationship with ourselves, with one another, with our more-than-human neighbors, and with the living world that continually sustains us.

Sarah Marie teaches that we are Nature, and that Nature is always seeking more of itself through us. As we reconnect to this living relationship, we gain greater access to the healing, wisdom, insight, and growth that have always been available to us. Her work invites people into a way of living that is deeply embodied, relational, and rooted in the understanding that life itself possesses an innate restorative intelligence.

From this place, healing is no longer something we strive to attain, but something that naturally unfolds as we remember our place within the living community of life.
